University of Alabama professors receive an educational grant study upon oil spill cleanup measure

Two of this school university of Alabama biology professor have entirely receive the National Science Foundation Rapid Response Research educational grant program towards this research environmental clean up solutions unto this Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill. Dr. Behzad Mortazavi who is the assistant professor of this biological sciences and Dr. Patricia Sobecky who is also a professor and chair of this biological sciences will be using this study grants program for their respective project entitled the Rapid Accelerating Biodegradation of Hydrocarbons from this Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill into this Gulf Mexico together with this Naturally Occurring Marine Substrates. In which, they will be entirely be focusing upon finding ways towards accelerating this chemical breakdown of hydrocarbons that contains an oil in northern Gulf of Mexico in the coastal zone. So, among this objective is entirely to identify the resources of this well naturally occurring marine organic matters towards the affected areas that will be increasing speeding up unto the rate of this breakdown and even identifying the involvement of bacteria upon this degrading hydrocarbons.

This long term goal project is entirely improvised into feasible engineering resolution as to assist the mitigating effects of an oil contamination unto the coastal waters. Mortazavi stated this educational grant will entirely allow of turning the frustration into something that will be considered as useful. As of now, they felt they like to become active upon their involvement unto from the start rather than waiting for long period of time before foregoing any research study. This will be just the beginning and they have entirely hoping of being able to come up with a feasible resolution upon resolving any concern. Rapid Response Research Grants have funded a quick response for their natural research study or the anthropogenic disasters and in similar unanticipated events that have occurred. Department of biological sciences have now become part of this UA’s College of Arts and Sciences that been considered as the school university’s largest division and also the largest in the field of liberal arts college of the state. With that, learners from this College have entirely won a numerous national awards that include the Rhodes Scholarships, memberships of USA Today Academic All American Team and the Goldwater Scholarships.
