Astronomer got an educational grant for future study

Jeff Kuhn who is the deputy of University in Hawaii Institute for Astronomy had selected to receive the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation senior research award. His currently the first American solar astronomer that been selected as to receive this award, although there will be three other researchers in University of Hawaii’s IfA that have won the Humboldts. As being the deputy director, Kuhn is quite responsible upon the management of this university’s Haleakala Observatories and have frequently provide monthly Maikalani Community Lecture for astronomical research in the observatories offices of Pukalani. Just recently, he and together with its team of astronomer have now publishing surprising paper that shows a contrary of previous research especially the size of sun that does not entirely change over same course of sunspot cycle. From a telephone interview from office in Manoa of Oahu last Thursday, Kuhn stated that he didn’t know exactly on how he would be spending this 60,000 euro ($74,000) educational grant but ever wanted of developing these newer models on how and determine on why this solar cycle become dependent on death cycle of sunspots.

He also added that this physics are entirely well known but it’s considered as a critical aspect to entirely understand on how the entire stars will evolve and change. This mere understanding might ultimately support of predicting on how and when this changing sun will entirely affect the Earth’s climate. Humboldt Foundation has awarded several senior research educational study grants in yearly basis as part of facilitating international cooperation with these German researchers. IfA have a relationship with observatory in Freiburg and Kuhn stated that his quite sure of becoming part of this project. Kuhn stated that he already known about its nomination in Humboldt but receiving it as a surprising one because it will never be provided toward solar works.

He also stated that question that he been investigating considered as quite interesting for itself but this climate connection serve as an essential aspect. During the end of the day, they won’t entirely care whether it’s been considered as an important aspect. With that, Kuhn’s will eventually research on its looks unto the sun and for orbital changes upon explaining on how climate will be changing over. He also added that his quite concerned over the direction that been heading particularly in the field of public climate discussions.
