All about Study Grants
ONCE a student graduates from high school, he or she can have many options before embarking on a lifetime career. The first option that the person can have is to take on three odd jobs and save until he or she can afford to go to college. A regular college is not the necessary direct means to have a professional degree. Anywhere in the United States, there are thousands of community colleges which offer associate technical degrees. Once a person gets a technical degree, he or she can immediately receive regular employment to the industry located in their area because programs offered in a community college are meant to generate jobs in the county they are in. There is another catch too.
Graduates of a community college with an associate degree automatically qualify regular college. Colleges and universities themselves are obviously expensive because of the tuition, laboratory and other miscellaneous fees associated with it. And that’s not just the end there. There are already business colleges in the United States which require their students to spend their seventh semester in a study excursion abroad – in places such as Argentina and France. This entails a lot of money on the students’ part that’s why ample preparation is needed. Thus, there are alternatives. There are various online colleges and universities nationwide which offer programs leading to a bachelor’s degree and even to a master’s degree or a doctoral degree. Some of these educational institutions are extensions of existing reputable colleges and universities and these are the best.
Yet nothing beats a traditional classroom style college. So it must be prepared. For those who are not endowed with wealthy parents or trust funds, there still are other means though. One can apply for student loans. There are government student loans under the No Child Left Behind program and there are private student loans such as those propagated by Sallie Mae and several lending firms. These student loans, when consolidated, can be paid to as far as 30 years, more than enough for the student to recover from his or her loan and even incur income from the program that he or she has graduated. But if you still do not want to avail of student loans, then there are lots of study grants and scholarships out there.
The easiest way to get a study grant is to apply for athletic scholarship and be a member of the school varsity. You may want to become an NCAA player or a cheerleader in your college. Another way is to apply for academic scholarship. The applicant must pass the exam with high rates and must prove that he or she is an indigent who cannot finance his or her way through college. And then there are other indigent funding institutions which largely rely on donations like the United College Negro Fund to assist you.
But then again, that is not the end of college funding. There are countless diverse ways to help fund one’s college education. All an enthusiastic high school graduate one needs to do is Google his way in the Internet.
